Rear Plate: Audi Black Slimline - Modded both the plate and frame both with magnets to be entirely screw-less.

Front Plate: Audi Black Slimline - Also modded to be screw-less with magnets. Additionally, I have modded the front license plate to be removable if desired for Photo Shoots, Shows, etc. Used some strong neodymium magnets to hold the plate and frame together as well as under the front plate "delete" plates on the front bumper. Please note, this is on my Allroad (not A4 Sedan FYI) so the license plate holder plates are different than the sedan version. I'm likely going to set up a potential kit or writeup on this for the Allroad.

Default Me Too

We purchased an A4 from AZ and we live in OR which requires a front plate. The car did not come with any mounting brackets. We are trying to determine if we need to spend the $100+ dollars for an Audi part or if there is a less expensive way to mount the front plate without damaging the grill.

I see a lot of front pics in here where the plate almost looks like it was mounted directly on the grill without the standard front plate part. How'd you guys do that?

I found this out the hard way when I tried to resuse the WeatherTech Clear Cover from my old car.

Does anyone know of a license plate cover that fits under the back up camera on the B9 please?

Every plate frame I've ever ordered from Amazon rusted inside of two years later. I finally broke down and bought an Audi slimline OEM frame and we'll see how that holds up.

After a bit of research, here's what I ended up using on my B9 to cover the plate in a way that fits under the backup camera.

Audi slim line license frame with rings -- black: https://parts.audiusa.com/p/Audi__/S...AW071801C.html
DFDM National License Plate Shield - 4 Hole
Amazon Amazon

The license plate shield and my state's flat license plate fit perfectly under the tabs of the Audi frame. No spacers needed on the back of the plate to keep the plate flush.

To attach to the B9 (mine has the plastic license plate mount on the trunk), I used 4 M6 x 16mm stainless steel screws (with button heads) and two M6 stainless steel washers for each screw (you need a total of 8). The two washers fit exactly into the Audi plate's plastic screw cover bases and are necessary for a snug fit. With this set up, the 16mm screws tighten securely, without stripping the nuts out of the plastic mounting plate on the car (Be sure not to overtighten). You can certainly exchange one of the two washers for a locking washer if you think it necessary.

Once the plate/shield and frame assembly is bolted on, just screw the Audi frame's screw covers onto the bases and voila! Looks very sharp with no rattling or movement.

We'll see how things hold up, and I'll report back in a few months.
