Too bad this is not available for my 2017 A4. Yesterday, I was driving through New York State, and as I drove over the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge (formerly the Tappan Zee), the view on my MMI showed me driving over the old bridge, which was demolished and replaced by the new one. In essence, my car was floating over the Hudson River, with no bridge beneath it. It was quite funny to see.

Why is this update not available for your car? Did you already use your 5 updates, or is it something else? I'm curious as I have never updated my maps - yet.

Yes. I took delivery of my car in May 2016. I have used up my 5 updates, unfortunately.

The Version 2019/2020 update has been up for months. I just checked and the the newer Version 2020 is available.
So I went to the download page and clicked for the 2020 version, and after it all arrived I checked against the "2019" version and the file checksums are the same. "MIB2/NavDB/common_nar/0/default" opens with the lines:

Just bought my car used in June and had never done the map update. I checked the MMI, and it was still running the original maps that came on the car (2015/2016). However, it would only allow me to update to 2018/2019. It tells me “You can buy up-to-date maps from your Audi partner.” for the 2020 update. I downloaded and installed the 2018/2019 update last night over USB with no issues, but why wouldn’t it let me get the 2020 update if the car was still on the original maps?
Doesn't really bother me all that much anyway as I use Waze with CarPlay 95% of the time anyway.

you get the first five map updates that are produced after your car is manufactured free. If you don’t upgrade one or two or ?? of the updates issued, they still count as part of the first five.
