If you are concerned about the mileage on the odo or that somebody may have abused it on a test drive, then don't buy off the lot and instead factory order the exact car and options you want.

Yes. Unless the customer specifically asks for the car to be trucked or it would be more than 1 day of driving, we don't. Even if it is trucked, we can't guarantee it hasn't been driven by the other dealer.

I have asked my SA today to let me know the mileage BEFORE they have it sent here. He said yes, they would look for one with the lowest ,mileage - still does not mean I'm gonna accept it if the lowest mileage is over a certain amount. That's why I said to notify me before - I don't want any surprises.

Unless it's a Lamborghini or better, I don't think factory order means it will be trucked the whole way.

It'll be on some form of transport for most of the way only driven to roll on/off. I don't know if you ever had a chance to see the factory, but the train tracks run through the factory, so they load the cars on trains that then take them to Emden, where they are then rolled on to the vessel, then they arrive state side and roll off, go through inspection and customs and then get loaded on a truck to be transported to the dealership. Generally factory orders arrive with less than 10 miles at the dealership, except for RS models and the R8 which get tested on a track before they leave the factory and typically arrive with somewhere around 40 miles. My 2007 S4 had 4 miles on it (US Delivery) and my 2013 RS5 (European Delivery) had 45 miles on it in Germany, but they store European Delivery vehicles offsite until the customer picks them up and they are driven to/from the offsite storage.

Most dealers around here flatbed them. I wouldn't accept any new car with over 100 miles on it. The first few are the break-in miles and you want to be sure the car was hot-dogged around. Always inquire about miles when doing a dealer trade

I don't think you can get a 0 mile car.

But if it is unusually high (some guy said 2000 miles...), can you refuse the car and demand another one if you don't drive it off the lot?

I'm sure you can; I certainly would. In my mind, with 2000 miles its not a new car.

Every RS car gets driven about 40 miles after production at the factory, as you said.

Most other cars will have about 7-20 miles on them at time of pickup (assuming no other test drives).
