Default MotorTrend $399 Lease Special article

Sorry if this is a repost.

Alfa Romeo Giulia vs. BMW 330i vs. Audi A4 vs. Mercedes-Benz C300 vs. Cadillac ATS vs. Jaguar XE vs. Lexus IS 200t vs. Infiniti Q50 vs. Volvo S60

A4 scored very well.

Can someone point out where I can get a Premium Plus for $399 a month with nothing down?

Just running a rough lease number, for a Premium Plus quattro with tech package and no other options ($47,400 MSRP), you would have to get it for about $3,000 below invoice and that is using the numbers for a 7,500 mile per year 36 month lease.

And that doesn't include acquisition, tax, motor vehicle fees, dealer doc fee, etc. I excluded $750 Audi loyalty.

Shopping around.

That was the number that I got on my FWD P+. Zero down, including acquisition, tax, motor vehicle fees, dealer doc fee, etc. $750 Audi loyalty. Total 399/month + tax.

Wow, the Alpha beat the Audi in that test. Hard to believe. I can't picture myself ever buying an Alpha Romeo.

Well FWD saves you $2,100 and despite a slightly lower residual, it also has a much lower money factor than the quattro.

I'm more interested in their reported 0-60 time of 5 seconds flat. That's the fastest report I've seen for this model. Car and Driver came in at 5.2 if I remember correctly which is more in line with other numbers I've seen reported. 5.0 seems too fast.

Yup. I believe Motor Trend used to quote it at 5.4 and now it's down to 5, which I find hard to believe. No idea how they got that time.

I believe this one had summer tires.

MT still has the 5.4 sec 0-60 in their A4 review profile. Looks some inconsistency without any explanation. Also, MT thinks A4's interior is cheap (except the VC which they love) and a bit louder which is contrary to most other reviewers.

Do summer tyres have so much grip? I've always used all seasons in my car except winter tyres in winter for the A6. Even then, 5s is extremely fast. I forgot how fast my stock A4 felt (I remember the best 0-60 I got on the speedo was 5.2s).

Yup. The manual will be slower since it is impossible to shift as fast as a DCT. 0.4s off seems about right. I use C&D as my standard for comparisons though I love watching the reviews MT puts up.
And yes. I've noticed that everyone who isn't a B9 owner hates how the B9 looks and the interiors with the non-retractable MMI screen. It is only us B9 owners who like our cars. And engine noise. Well. I used a popular sound app on my android phone to measure the output. At idle, with no other noise, my A4 was measured at 33-36dB and A7 at 44-47dB. Same, silent location, minutes apart.
