Default OEM 10.1” screen conversion

Hey l know it’s been discussed on another post elsewhere but just wanted to update people and show it can be done.

I bought the screen from a scrapped A4 2020 model and fitted in using the screen decoder and it was plug and play. The image quality is not stretched and looks perfect while maintaining the original MMI wheel function.

Parts needed for the upgrade:Main screen - 8W2919620

3 black trims- 8W2857967AV58

- 8W2857966AV58

- 8W28579686PS

Screen tray- 8W1857735

Screen decoder- https://a.aliexpress.com/_v0A8Ws

Looks great. I've seen others do this on the Facebook group, but to confirm for others, the touchscreen does not work correct?

Any full interior pics?

Correct, the touchscreen is not functional. Also a heads up, the trim parts listed will be for a RHD application only. Screen and carrier should be the same RHD/LHD though.

How much did you pay for the screen and where did you buy it? Thanks in advance for the reply.

I now understand that the screen decoder may not even be required for the Qualcomm based MMI units. So try it without one first before buying one.

Hi Bruce, How do I check if my unit MMI is Qualcomm-based?

Your firmware will have the word Q in it something like MM2Q

Thanks Bruce let me check. Am looking at the Aliexpress unit but it looks expensive at $980. Still need to buy the plastic trims since my Audi is RHD.

StereoGuy430, Can I use the same tray I have with the 8.3 inch screen?

I believe the screen resolution (1024x480) will remain and the icons of the CarPlay apps will just look bigger? Sharper too? How about Google Earth will the satellite images look sharper?
