Phone senses Wifi? "Audi MMI"
My iphone sometimes tries to connect to Wifi while in my car to "Audi MMI". I'm not paying for Audi Connect and I've had the car for over a year. What is up with this?

Depending on whether you've connected to the MMI Wifi network before or you don't have a password set, your iPhone will reconnect automatically. If you are not paying for Audi connect, you should turn off the Wifi network, so nothing ever will try to connect to it. This can be accomplished in the settings. Instructions can be found in your owners manual. Also the following link has some helpful tips regarding Wifi connections on an iPhone.

Your phone is trying to connect to the Wi-Fi hotspot in the car. The hotspot is alway on (unless you turn it off in Settings). The ability to connect to the internet thru it is dependent on a current Audi Connect subscription.

Just a quick note -- if you happen to use Amazon Music though the MMI with the MMI Connect app, it requires you connect to the wifi hotspot -- and does NOT require an Audi Connect subscription.

Correct, the media player functionality of the MMI connect app requires a Wifi connection to the car. However, that also means that your phone will use the Wifi connection for data and not the cellular connection, so if you don't have an active Audi connect subscription then the phone won't have data and you can only play music stored on the phone itself.
