Hi All,

First time poster here.
Picked up my new Audi B9 last week.
I have a problem - Whilst in Apple Carplay mode I cannot play music via Spotify in Carplay unless I am connected to bluetooth.
I want to play through MMI WIFI audio but the only way that will happen is if I disconnect the iphone from the car(disconnect cable) and then access
Spotify via the phone itself.

Am I doing something wrong?
Is that the way it is or is there a solution?

Is there a Spotify app on the CarPlay screen? If not then you will need to disconnect from CarPlay (use Connection Manager to do so), connect via BT or USB audio and use Spotify on your phone. The phone can still be connected to the car's WiFi hotspot to use the Audi Connect data link.

Thanks for reply.
Spotify app is on carplay screen.
When I try to use its like it cannot connect to wifi audio player.
When I disconnect phone/cable it will play through wifi audio player or if I connect phone via cable/open carplay and connect to Bluetooth it will also play.
But when in apple carplay mode Spotify wont play music via wifi audio.

any other thoughts ?

CarPlay does not use WiFi audio. For CarPlay your phone is connected via USB cable and controlled via MMI. CarPlay remotely controls the app on your phone and audio is transferred from the phone to the car via USB cable. The phone might be connected to the car's WiFi but only to get a data connection to the Internet.

If you are not in CarPlay mode and your phone is connected to the car's WiFi then the MMI app on your phone can connect to the MMI head unit in your car and transfer audio via WiFi. Other apps on your phone pretending to be a streaming media player can also play audio via WiFi if selected as audio source in the MMI.

Sorry all can I ask one more question.
I am still having a problem with MMI and Spotify.

My device(Apple Iphone 8) automatically connects to Audi MMI WIFI in the car.
Once it does Spotify will not play via Carplay or via Bluetooth as the phone is connected to WIFI.
The only way I can get spotify to play is to disconnect my phone(on the device itself)from Audi wifi and then it will play via Carplay or bluetooth.

Have I got a setting wrong?
It can be right that I have to disconnect my device from Audi to play spotify ?

any ideas?

Do you have an active AudiConnect subscription with data remaining for WiFi clients? Can you access the Internet on your phone while you are connected to the car's WiFi?
