25910627[/url]]Audi A4 Avant B9 2017. I currently only have a USB charger. I will convert to USB. I have a new box with 2 USB. I'm learning slowly.
Thank you.
first convert and then do the software. SD card with Mib tools and then from engineering menu load the sd card.
you need to put the correct files in the sd card via mib helper, so google that also
fatmir, you're looking at the wrong voltage source wire. violet/red is the term 58 illumination wire from the J519. You have a charge only USB port unit, so you have 5V from the J794 on the gray/red and ground from the J794 on the brown/red. You need to add the red/black for 12v from the fuse 5 and brown for ground from the chassis.
Ok. I think I understand everything now.
1.first I load mib tool 360 via SD card.
2. upload the new MHS2_ER_AU_P2035 firmware via SD card.
Is it necessary to set the radio to factory settings when loading the firmware?
Edit: Where is the new MHS2_ER_AU_P2035, I don't see it in the MIB patches, all MHI version. I used the MIB helper to check the firmware for my vehicle.

Updating MIB2 is probably an extended discussion independent of the physical / electrical retrofit subject. There's likely already threads on the subject as well. Just to not dilute the on-topic content of the thread.
I was working out a visual aid for the wiring after englebertink introduced the complication of the MY16 units. Lost that to a power outage and took a while to care to remake it. But finally finished that.
So we see the charge only versions of the units have only the USB 5V and USB ground from the J794. It's the full data versions that have the fused 12v and chassis ground connections. They still get the USB 5V from the J794 as a "remote turn on lead", as the fused power is term 30, always on. The prior brown/red ground line would just be taped off, unconnected. The purple/red term 58 illumination signal is going to be there in any MY17+; the lack of it factory is specific to the MY16 which used the 4M (Q7) units initially. But as pointed out, for someone in that scenario, to bother with the term 58 line is really optional.
Englebertink's pics imply the gray/red was on pin 1 instead of pin 3. All the 4M and 8W wiring documentation from Audi says it should have been on 3, so I'm leaving it that way in the diagrams. It could well be the charge only units could get the business done with the voltage supply on either pin.
If I recall, the Carplay integration over USB-C doesn't work with MIB2. Likely something to do with that Apple authentication chip stuff. But as this is about the physical/electrical aspects, it fits. The USB-C unit lacks the AUX port because MIB3 eliminated the AUX input entirely.
Unfortunately, the forum engine image resizing makes the small details in the second image a bit hard on the eyes.
