Default Wheel Studs Conversion 56mm Long

Is anyone running the 56mm wheel stud conversion? I plan on running 10mm spacers on the OEM wheels for the winter and then a set of BBS CIR wheels in the summer. Just wondering if it can run 35mm long lug nuts with these 56mm wheel studs with out bottoming out the lug nuts? I don't like the extended lug nut look especially with BBS CIR wheels.

Audi’s don’t have studs and nuts, they have bolts. You need to get the proper length and proper shape bolts. Some bolts have spherical mating surfaces an some are conical.

Yes, I understand that. That's why I stated I want to run the wheel stud conversion with aftermarket lug nuts. I am planning on using adapter washers to convert the taper to the ball sockets. This allows me to run aftermarket wheels and OEM wheels using one set of lug nuts.

Didn't know they had ball socket washers for that purpose. Do you have a link?

All this sounds overly complicated. BBS wheels in a 5x112 bolt pattern are ball seat not conical. So.... keep the oem 14x1.5x28mm ball seat lug bolts for the BBS wheels and just pic up a set of 14x1.5x38 mm ball seat bolts for the oem wheels with spacers. Done. Having a few bolts in a ziploc bag half the year doesn't seem like a big burden to me and is less complicated and less expensive than a stud conversion.

But then again I may be the exception. I have so many cleaning products, detail products, oem parts and aftermarket parts in my closet that a few bolts in a ziploc would be a drop in the bucket.

I understand your motives but few will know the answer to your question. I have stud conversions on the blue TT for swapping from street wheels to track wheels. I just use open ended nuts so bottoming is not a concern. You will need to do some careful measuring I expect.
One advantage to using stud conversions is that it eliminates the risk of too long bolts damaging the ABS wheel stators behind the hubs. I’ve seen that happen at track events when folks use the wrong bolts or forget to mount their spacers.

Yes, this is overly complicated. I wish this was true but I have searched and majority of the people are saying BBS aftermarket rims are most likely conical and NOT ball sockets. Only OEM type wheels come in ball seat configuration.
The reason I want to do the stud conversion is because I have stripped the bolts on my old BMW. Easy fix was to retap the hole and replace the bolt but this was an absolute nightmare.

I can get washers to convert tapered lug nuts to ball seat wheels but I cant find the opposite of this.
I could get open ended lug nuts (not a fan of them) but I would like one that is a keyed socket versus hex socket. It makes it a little harder for the thief to steal.

Ahh, I got ya. And i thought BBS CIR in anything 5x112 were ball seat and I was just googling it and now I'm not so sure. You know who would know for sure is Mops@nemesis. He sells a lot of BBS and would know for sure. He posts on Audizine.
