Got a revised quote from Safelite(when I called them). Got a quote of $890 + tax ~$1000 including tax(includes calibration). Forgot to ask the kind of glass(whether OEM or not), but the quote email from Safelite says non OEM.

Safelite quoted $1290(including tax+disposal) with OEM glass.
Non OEM is $1000(total including tax + disposal)
I see people suggesting I should OEM glass? Point is, how do I convince my insurance Geico to pay for OEM glass vs safelite glass?
The only reason I'm thinking this through is with the state of the roads in Bay Area, I don't know how soon I might have another windshield "accident" again

The cost differential is about the same as I faced, though both are $500 higher.
With the non-OEM I had in, the edge 1/2 - 1 inch was warped all around, meaning anything streaking by - lane markers, road edges, yellow/white/etc., all curved inward as they passed through that last section of glass. Unless you like driving as if you were jumping to light speed in the Millennium Falcon, it's $290 well spent.

My prices are with camera calibration thrown in. should I skip the calibration with OEM glass, and do calibration only if presense throws an error later?

Since presense is a safety feature, why risk it? Better safe than sorry. Just my $0.02.

One thing to be aware of is that 3rd party glass likely isn't acoustically insulated like the OEM glass is. The "cheap" glass will have more cabin noise.

Mine threw an error at every start (the little white round circle that stays lit up the longest at startup - it turned yellow and stayed on, and a warning message appeared in the dash) with the 3rd party glass, and stopped throwing an error when OEM glass was put back in. I have since confirmed that it works. But since the validation process that runs every time you start the car had confirmed it was working, I really didn't doubt it.
Did they give you the windshield part number? I had mine somewhere - I'll keep looking for it - and I could look it up and multiple Audi authorized dealer parts sites - $500 list price. I don't see how they're telling you the same glass is that much more.
