2004 A4 running poorly!! Help!
Hey guys,
The Audi is driving very poorly.
The Oil Pressure light comes on sporadically during warm weather highway driving, ever since I owned it but I ignored it since Audi’s are notorious for false codes and defective sensors.
Replaced sensor and checked oil pressure. We’ll see….
I also stupidly pulled a Kramer and allowed the car to run out of gas about 2-3 weeks back. Sediment in fuel lines, fuel filter or fuel pumps? I do tend to overdo the engine additives (to increase compression-to solve oil pressure warning…..) and gas additives at gas fill ups…… bad O2 sensors or cats??
Lastly, I had to replace my mass air flow sensor about 5 weeks ago. A generic cheapie or installed wrong, is that possible? The idle is fine, although a tad jumpy.
The car drives fine otherwise but it just does not seem to have the same zip it had just months ago, it seems to lack power and proper kick down.
My wife as a 1995 Jag XJR and it has wayyyyyyy more torque, pickup and acceleration even power, than my newer 2004 A4.
My thoughts are either bad O2 sensors (check engine light indicate bad sensor ONCE a few days ago but not since) or fouled or clogged cats.
Ideas? Desperate!
Thanks,
Keith.

I'm mostly in A8 D3 forum... Here is my take about MAF
First of, 3.0L or 1.8T?
My experience with both cheapo and Hitachi OEM MAF
Cheap MAF has no zip as the OEM, exactly.
Replace Generic MAF On A4 Cabriolet 3.0L V6 - AudiAudi
Low on gas doesn't do anything to system, in my experience.
You should have a VCDS to check to see what's actually wrong. Sometimes, it's just needed to be reset.
I don't have the 04 cabriolet anymore, but since I replaced the MAF, my sister has never called me to fix her car a few months now.
Cheers,
Louis

I am pretty sure it was OEM, cost me $320.00.
As for sludge, I change my oil every three months and added engine cleaner the last oil change.
Friggin car just seem so dead!

Yup, yje oil pressure light was based on sludge/oil change issues, took some advice on oils and filter and additive and problem is gone over 2 months now.
However, poor "sluggish" performance, ie, acceleration and pick up, still persists.
