OK - so I have an '04 A4 Cab with the bog standard 'concert' boring boring radio in it and I'm about to put in a double din navigation system.

Judging by the look of A4 cabs with the Navigation+ system, the climate panel seems to be lower down, otherwise the double din radio would end up where the buttons and cup holder is.

Anyone know how to go about dropping down the climate panel? Does it just come out and go back in lower (and cover that gap behind the ashtray)?

Just above the ashtray and just under the climate is a little black rectangular bit - I'm hoping to pop that out and drop everything down but I have the fear (as does <needforsleep&gt that the whole centre console needs replacing, or some hacking needs to be done. Hacking is fine with me, but I'd rather not.

Popping out the climate and the radio does show a black surround thing which the radios and climate sit in, but it doesn't look very configurable.

Anyone done this? Any help would be great chaps!!

Just be sure that someon who knows audis is doing the work. You may also want to check on the audio forum of Audiworld.

My fear is that my console goes, from top to bottom:

* Storage compartment (half DIN)
* Cup holder and buttons (half DIN)
* Audi Concert radio/CD (Single DIN)
* Climate control panel (Double DIN)

The Nav+ needs to go where the Concert is and thus I am a DIN short... I can't believe that Audi would make 2 different kinds of centre console!!

Any ideas how much a new A4 Cab centre console would be? I guess I just need the plastic console itself and I just refit all my bits and pieces (then sell the old one on eBay...). Serves me right for being a tightass when I bought it...

£72.83 which was a pleasant surprise (8H0 858 005A). Can't be that hard to fit, surely?! Better than a hack-saw any day of the week.
