my car is going to Beverly Hills Audi on tuesday to fix my broken power seat and my haunted glovebox that opens by itself for no particular reason.
i read here a while ago that people were getting their rattling windows fixed by "clicking up" the stationary position so that - the window sits tighter against the frame.
has anybody done this? how does it work and what should i tell the service guy?
the windows rattling are driving me crazy.

We have one window that sits loosely against the frame. We tried to no avail to get it fixed, but did find out that one of two methods are available to try...
The first is to simply adjust the door hinge mount inward inside the door frame. This will make the door sit inward a bit and perhaps lessen your issue.
The other method involves the track that the window rests in and your tech will need to remove the door panel and do the adjustment from there.
Unfortunately, this adjustment takes a lot of time and I doubt that the serv. dept at your dealer will bother with it. (I don't think Newport Beach even attempted it).
If you REALLY have issues, you might want to call McKenna in Norwalk and speak with them... they adjusted my TT windows once and after 2+ hours finally got them right. The Serv. Department Mgr there is a personal friend of mine, I can give you his name if you like via e-mail.
Good luck.

I had nasty window rattles and brought it into Beverly Hills Audi. For the first few times, they did nothing except lubricate the seal, but the rattles always returned after a week.
Finally I had enough and raised a bit of hell, so they took it in again. I spoke to Tim, who I believe is the most experienced rep there. He told me that they adjusted the window position a notch higher, which seamed to do the trick.
The sound was for the most part gone. It recently came back, but just a bit, so I thoroughly cleaned the seal, and added a bit of WD40. This was two months ago, and still no rattles.
Hope this helps.
