i found this out from the service department when i was working at keyes audi - The reason that the sunglass holder was omitted from the US spec car was because the corner of the door "might" puncture the passenger airbag when deployed. I can see how its possible - when open, the corner comes right about where yould expect the airbag to deploy.
what do you guys think?
another funny thing - right before i quit, i saw a new shippment of cabs come in from port - they had the new center console (it cheapens the car SOOOOOmuch btw) the drink holder is gone from above the radio (replaced by 2 cardholders - as if 1 wasnt useless enough!!!!)
and theres a cavity where the handbrake is with two molded cupholders FUGGGLLLYYYY
but, the weird thing is that there is a sunglass holder and it DOES open - its not push-triggered - rather it has a "switch" type locking mechanism - weird

i also saw a custom ordered cab with the new navigation - looked nice (nicer than mine

anyhow you seem to change jobs A LOT!

and for the possibility that the sunglass holder canpuncture the air bag, it might be true. This is all rumors unless AUDI puts out a statement. We have heard earlier that the sunglass holder was omitted from US spec because things can fly out from it!
