The Limestone Grey also has a fair amount of brown in it, which is one reason that I loved it...it looked like a different color in different lighting conditions, and did not attract attention (good with such a fast car).
As for the blue AR, I didn't want blue, but this was the best CPO I could find within 500 miles (though it was much closer). Thing is, I had an '05 C5 AR...in blue. But now that I picked up the car and have it in my garage, I'm strangely comfortable with it. And from what I can see on the Audi CPO site, Firmament Blue seems to be the rarest color...there are lots of white and black A6 ARs out there, and a few greys and silvers.
I agree with you that the stock colors are boring...none of them 'clicked' with me. But I'm increasingly happy with having ended up with a new version of my car that I traded in almost ten years ago.

From my experience the majority of autos manufactured in the last 20 years have been black, white, or gray. I also bought a blue AR back in Nov and had to travel 800 miles to find one with the interior and options I wanted. About 10 years ago I was looking for a used Maserati Gran Turismo, it took months to find one in dark red as they all seemed to be black, white, or gray, and again I had to travel about 800 miles to pick it up. My wife drives a Lincoln Nautilus, it's white, as is pretty much every other one I've ever seen on the road
