I just bought a new 22 A6 Allroad (Glacier White with Black interior, prestige). Am totally thrilled with it…. I also have a 16 A6 sedan (4 cylinder) and just traded in my 18 Q7 and I’ve loved those cars but this one is exceptional.
I love reading this forum and just joined so look forward to contributing…
One thing I’m a little confused about is whether my car has the TrafficJamassist - myAudi profile suggests that it does but I’m not certain how to activate it etc. is it just activated the same way as ACC? Or does my car not have it? It’s not a big deal either way, but am curious!
thanks!!!

Congratulations! that sounds beautiful!
Yes, you should have the traffic jam assist. If you are in stop and go traffic. Pull the cruise lever towards you unless it’s already in the active mode and then just hit the end button which will set it at the current speed you are at. I believe it works up to about 38-40mph. You can push the cruise stalk up or down to adjust the max speed you want. If the car does come to a stop for more than about 30-45 seconds you will have to tap the gas pedal for it to continue.
I hope this helps!

The user manual has a very long detailed description that is worth reading to understand the complete functionality.
Although the implementation is impressive: speed along in cruise control as always, traffic builds up, the car slows down, and keeps slowing down, and slowing down ... until a complete stop. Then magically starts up again when able to. But some of the details of the algorithm are worth studying.
My only complaint is that sometimes the car has pointlessly sped ahead somewhat aggressively to close the gap in a traffic jam even though obviously (or at least obvious to me) the car will soon (as in, a few seconds later) have to slow down a crawl again.
Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately), I haven't had the chance to check out the aspect of this feature that allows the "lane" centering to work off of neighboring cars (i.e., rather than the actual lane markings).
But I have noticed that it lets you keep your hands off the steering wheel for far longer than when you're at highway speeds.

Thanks to both of you, really appreciate it! So the two main differences between my 2016 A6 with ACC and my new A6 Allroad Prestige appear to be:
- Below ~40 miles an hour, Traffic Jam Assist will kick in, which allow the cameras to do lane centering off of surrounding cars.
- The allowed 'stop' time is longer (30-45 seconds). In the old one, even it stops for a few seconds the ACC shuts off, and i need to start it up manually.
