Default 2012 A6 Demo Arrived today

FYI, I was in New Orleans Audi this morning having my 5,000 mile maintenance performed on my S5 and while I was there the truck came in with the new 2012 A6 Demo. Sticker was $71k fully loaded.

I wish I had thought to snap a photo but I was so busy looking it over that I didn't think about it until after I left.

So first cars are special launch editions. What wheels are they coming with?

Wait...

"Special Launch Edition"?????

I ordered a launch variant in February, and am expecting it very soon. One of the option packages that was included was:

S0C LAUNCH MARKET INTRODUCTION

I just assumed this specified a launch variant. Am I to assume there is some special option because it's a launch model? That would rock if so!!! Maybe not if they charge me extra for it!!!

There's nothing special about launch variants. Back in 1st quarter of the year, there were no options to pick from.

Audi built the cars with pre determined launch variants. Some had more expensive options, innovation, b/o, etc. And others less options.

The dealer just picked the ones they wanted.

Sounds like...
Prestige (56,780)
Innovation (5,800)
Bang (5,800)
20" (1,500)

Add in destination charge (875) and you're at 70,755.

Add another 475 for metallic/pearl paint, 450 for cold weather pkg or 350 for rear airbags. Fully loaded it tops out at 72k.

I got the call from my dealer yesterday that their demo car was ready for a test drive. They just received it around noon and it took them a few hours to get it ready. I went on a short test drive, maybe 10 min, since it was kind of late in the day. At first sight the car seemed smaller in person than the previous model...maybe that had something to do with all the A7's and A8's parked aorund it.
The interior however seems spacious. In comfort mode it drove nice however it really came alive when I switched to dynamic. The shifts were quick and painless and the power was impressive. In the limited time I had I played with some of the features like hand recognition and Google Maps and they seemed intuitive. Overall I really liked it and will probably place an order shortly. Here are some pics I took...

I like everything except the rear end/tail lamps. Looks too much like the new Jetta...just not like an uber-luxe Euro ride.
