How much compensation? In what form?

Just trying to assess what/how much to ask for.

There's no rules on this. I can only tell you that when I had an ongoing problem a few years ago, I was offered a check equal to 3 months payments. I accepted it gratefully. Know that the first line cust. service reps can't do this. Ask to be escalated to a senior Case Specialist and plead your case with an offer to provide documentation. Being calm, rational and professional goes a long way.

Default Not Even Close....

Varies by state....lot's of info on internet for basics, then see an attorney who specializes in this area if you think you're in the ball park. From what you've posted, your're not even close under Mag-Moss or State Lemon Laws. And BTW, an auto forum isn't the best place to research a legal issue.

Each state has different different terms. Almost every state has some kind of lemon law. Lemon laws are where a manufacturer has to buy a product back from a consumer if it is clearly faulty. You can do a research in your state.

So, was your issue resolved after the part change? Curious coz I dealt with AOA and found them to be very responsive to customer issues.

I also am aware of people who've had issues and found AOA to be very helpful and responsive. In one case (repeat owner, major breakdowns out of state, etc.), Audi replaced an almost-new A6 for someone. Audi is trying really hard to up their game above and beyond BMW and MB and they want happy customers on what is in many ways Audi's most important vehicle. I would give them a large chance to do the right thing before getting the BBB involved, etc. (and I think there is already an internal Audi dispute resolution mechanism that you may be required to avail yourself of). As others have said I think you are still quite a way from meeting the lemon law threshold.

I don't recall if I replied to this thread, but I'm one of those who had a very positive experience with AOA. I was new to Audi and bought my 2011 C6 A6 used. It turned out to be a Lemon and AOA was accommodating enough to offer me a C7. I expected a protracted fight but were very responsive.

What was the problem exactly? Rough downshifting? I believe this is the new normal with modern automatics because they lock up the torque converter most of the time above 1000 rpm for better gas mileage.

Furthermore, the design of the 8 speed is such that there is engine braking in Drive for gears 2-8. This means the downshifts are going to be felt, due to the change in engine speed and the resulting change in engine braking force.

Old automatics had the planetary gearsets setup in such a way with one-way clutches so that there was no engine braking in Drive. The engine could just idle while you brake or coast so downshifts were not felt at all. It's like on a bicycle you can stop pedalling whenever you want.
