Default Launch Control

FWIW, the S6 will have launch control. I'm guessing it will get close to a sub-4 second 0-60 time.

That said, after owning a 2007 S8 and a 2009 S5 Cab I think the whole S thing is over rated. I'm finding less powerful cars to be more engaging to drive around town because I can actually hit red line once in a while without going to jail.

I'm currently thinking about giving my A4 Avant to the wife and trading her Q7 in for a 2013 A6 3.0 Prestige for me. If I don't think the 3.0T is fast enough I can always install the MTM Cantronic. But no way I'd spend the extra 20 grand on the S6.

Used to be a day when the 3.0T A6's performance would have been considered "S-like."

Launch control = cool = sub 4 second = fastest car I've ever owned.

Why would I spend $100,000 for a Porsche in 2009? $20k gets you more than sub 4 second timing. That is how I started out my thinking. My last performance car was a CTS-V and it was a beast! Amazing power. I think spending $90k for a car is already excessive. $70k is excessive. It just depends on where you draw your budgetary line. To each his own. I respect you position. It's definitely more frugal.

I highly suggest getting the A6 with an S6 body.. The reason I think you should get an S6 body on it is because you get the sport of the body and the luxury of of the A6 interior.

Also.. If you ever want to give away one of your other cars to a young car enthusiast.. Let me know because I would be happy to have one

Hope this info helped!

I started shopping the A6. However, at the dealership I saw the S6 and fell in love with it. I wanted it badly but the dealer here in Plano would not sell it. They wanted the car as showroom demo. I couldn't find another S6 locally and was not patient enough to wait 6 months. I purchased the A6 Prestige with Sport Package at Dallas Audi.

Differences
4.2L vs. 3.0L, 420hp. Vs. 310hp, ok... I got it. 0-60 is not much different (using mfgr numbers).
There is a HUGE difference in acceleration between the two. The supercharged V6 is a pretty good engine but it does not hold a candle to the twin turbo V8 in the S6. In addition, the S6 has a number of features that are not available on the A6, such as the torque vectoring differential, dual clutch transmission and air suspension. Whether or not it's worth the extra $$$$$ is up to you.

Or hop on over to the S6 forum where the S6 owners mostly reside.
