2013 S6 Prestige Offer
Greetings:
I have a lease offer from a dealer for a 2013 S6 Prestige with the following terms:
- Negotiate price - $1000 under MSRP (these things are in very short supply and they don't seem willing to negotiate further).
- 36 month lease
- 10K miles per year
- 56% residual ($42,907)
- .00150 money factor
- $5K down
- 6% sales tax (due up front)
- $1169 monthly payment
The residual seems right but money factor seem high (i.e. i believe i've seen .00113 on other forums).
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks,
-Curttel

I traded my A6 for S6 and it seems to me u can get a better deal from what they are giving u. My lease for both cars was with 12k miles/year. This is equivalent to about $20/month. Also my lease was for 42 months.
Sticker on A6 was $63k. After discounts and rebates, it ended up being $57. I leased it with $6500 down for $767/month. When I brought it back being 2 months old and with 4k miles, I put another $6k down and leased S6 for $1135/month (that includes the maintenance package and sticker was $79k). They did not charge me for the windshield (I brought the car with a cracked one) that was about $700.
The payoff for A6 was $26k and S6, $43k. Significant difference but if u consider A6 being $16k cheaper than S6, sticker-wise, A6 a 2012 model, A6 was discounted to $57k and no discount on S6, then it makes sense.
Hope this helps.

Also, forgot, that $6k I put down included taxes and first payment. I guess sine I already paid for taxes on A6 I only had to pay for the taxes that covered the difference between A6 and S6.

The money factor sounds reasonable, however, always ask to see if they can improve it. Most dealers mark up the money factor for additional profit.
Make sure 10K miles a year is enough for your expected use. This works out to less than 28 miles per day.

What is the sticker price on your car? Also list the final selling price as we can put it into a lease calculator to see if the payment they are giving you actually matches the numbers they say they are using. It's very easy for them to fool customers that don't do their own lease math.

MSRP $76620
Base Cap Cost $75620 ($1000 off of MSRP)
Costs Added $5872 (Sales Tax, DMV, Doc, Service Contract)
Cap Cost Red $5000 (down payment)
Adj Cap Cost $76492
Residual Value $42907 (straight 56% of MSRP as you say)
Money Factor $.00150 (3.6%)
Term 36 months
Tax 6%
I get $1112 per month.
Depreciation: $33585
Finance Charge $6448
Total Payments $40033
Total Lease Cost $45003

The A6 configuration I wanted was $64,000 and I shopped for similarly prices BMW 5 series, Lexus GS's and MB E-class cars. Audi was over $200 more per month than completely comparable leases (same $ down, same yearly mileage, same vehicle price within a few hundred dollars) on the other vehicles in the same price range. Audi had the lowest residuals and highest money factor rates of the four brands I checked.
$200 extra per month over a 36 months lease is an extra $7,200 that Audi wanted to make off me compared to BMW, Lexus or Mercedes-Benz. Obviously, I walked away. Someone mentioned to go and purchase the car outright, and here's what I have come up with:
$76,492 at 1.99% (many local credit unions offer that rate for car loans) over 60 months comes to $1,340.39/month
$76,492 at 2.99% (many local credit unions offer that rate for car loans) over 72 months comes to $1,161.85/month
At the end of both periods, the car is yours to keep or sell, or of course at any time during the loan period as long as you get more money for it than you owe.
Audi leases are terrible ... with the exception of the ones they advertise specifically at certain times, which always are for very lightly optioned Base models (A4, Q5 and A6) ...
