I drove the E250 and the A6 TDI on Saturday and I thought they were both impressive. Even though the Mercedes was a 4 cylinder, it was definitely no slouch. Very smooth, as was the Audi. MPG was definitely better on the Mercedes, which it should be with a 4 cylinder. I drove both about 30 minutes each.
I enjoyed both cars and would be happy with either.

E250 - reviewer got 40.6mpg
A6 TDI (w/ 245hp) US is 240hp - this EU version might be bi-turbo
Also note the roads look like 100% flat terrain and it appears to be current consuption readings, not average. And the video I believe is showing imperial (UK/CAN) gallons not US mpg #'s.
Here's a calculator for conversion of units:

I cannot edit my own messages, but here's a calculator for converting km/l into mpg:

1) That's the 7-speed auto not the ZF 8-speed automatic
2) I don't really know how he/she comes to the conclusion of consumption since what's displayed in the insturments is different from what's placed in the video.

I have a 2014 TDI and now have about 2500 miles. Actual gas mileage has been 33 to 40 mpg. 40 mpg was on a longer road trip with 80% of miles at 75 to 80 mph on highway with the other 20% on two lanes with multiple towns/slow downs. Actual gas mileage has been about 5% less than car computer.
Very happy with performance and mileage so far.
