Does anyone with late build 2013 A6 still have steering issues?

Read all the way through.
Yes, the C7 may not work with the VAGCOM mod, but I never implied that it would in my first post. I stated that a software fix seems to be the likely short term fix, it works well with B8 A4's. Audi engineers can generate coding to do the same with the C7's. Obviously the steering engineering group has a black mark on them. They were funded to design this auto-correct steering feature and failed, to just turn it off means defeat and heads would roll. Thus most likely a redesigned rack (global replacement?) and software is required and that is going to be costly to Audi. The bright side is that the steering rack is easily changed.

I have a 2014 Q5 on order and Audi may have fixed the steering issue, or hopefully they didn't lock out using the VAGCOM mod.

I'm was saying an official Audi software fix can do the trick, they just need to disable the steering auto-correct feature (which they won't).

Perhaps in your reply to mine you might have mentioned that it was likely for B8s only rather than just read this "all the way through". Just saying.

You don't indicate if these are old and new rack model numbers or just "new".

I said it would take 1 minute for Audi engineering to change the coding across the Audi lineup to fix the steering issue. As I said, I have a 2014 Q5 on order and I will code it if they didn't disable that access.

These are the only two racks (that I know of)used in 2013 on the C7, the first was issued in Aug, 2012, the second in 2013. Crawl under your car and look at your part number....

Hello,

I have an audi A5 3.0 tdi multitronic with steeringproblems. I bought it in 2012 and after 3000 miles the problems were there. A strange resistance in the steeringwheel. At high speed the steeringwheel doesn't give the right feedback. They have already changed the rack and after almost the same mileages, the problems were there again. At this moment they have done a software update. After this update, the problems are still there. I live in Belgium and at audi Germany, they thought the software update was the right answer to this problem. I think a total new rack is the answer !There are in Belgium and Germany more than 1000 cases with the same problem(A4,A5,A6,A7 and Q5)

snagitseven, which rack does your 2013 have?

Does anyone with the newer steering rack have any issues?
'13 A6 purchased Sept. 2012. Steering became notch at 2700 miles. Back to the dealer 3 x finally replaced the rack and problem went away. Dealer service manager told me Audi was aware of the problem but had no fix. Only after my lawyer called to arrange a return of the car did they act. A year later, now 7000 miles on the car it still seems OK. On occasion I have felt the same feedback in the wheel. Not happy because I basically love the car. Everything else is perfect but the steering scares me that there could be latent defect that could make the car dangerous.
Have owned 5 Audis in the last 12 years but this is the last one.
