Hi folks,
As I mentioned in my DIY thread, after replacing front and rear brakes, I have a BRAKE PAD! warning on my MFD and the BRAKE idiot light is solid on.
I scanned via VCDS and it found no faults. Process to retract and lock the rear calipers went through without a problem. I also assume that since there were on faults, the pad sensors must be good too...?
On ross-tech forums, someone mentioned going to Module 17 (Instruments) and toggling the brake wear indicating on and off; however when I tried doing so, I got an error 31 - address out of range.
Other than that - the car drives perfectly fine.
Any ideas?

The wear sensor is just a wire that completes the circuit. When the pads wear, the wire is abraded and it loses continuity. When it is good, it should read around 2 ohms on your meter.
You could have a bad sensor. You could have bent a pin in the connector when installing.
If you have the old wear sensors, you could plug one in and see if the fault clears. If you don't have the old sensors, you could jumper out the female connector at each wheel to see if it clears.

So long story short - I do have a bad sensor. I had to strip the sleeve and found out one of the wires was barely hanging by a thread... came like that from akebono ![Frown](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Put the original rear sensor in for now since it is still in good shape and am waiting for a replacement sensor to arrive. Oh well - end of that mystery!
