What are you all running for winter tires? I was going to go with 18 inch wheels and was looking at the Bridgestone LM 32s but have been reading mixed reviews on them. I am in the Boston area so Ill need a decent winter tire. Thanks in advance!

I'm running Michelin X-Ice on my 18" wheels. We've only had one snowfall here in Colorado so far this season, but they performed well. The reviews on TireRack were very positive.

Bridgestone Blizzak does make highly capable snow/winter tires. The LM series is just not among them, being in the "performance winter" category which trades off snow/ice traction for dry performance, albeit in the cold. They are sort of a halfway step from "all season" to "studless winter", which are much more capable. The most capable Blizzaks are the WS80, which are a bit soft, but have outstanding snow/ice traction. They are considered "studless winter" tires. Also in that category are the XIcexi3 which a44mark mentioned. Those are also excellent tires on snow/ice, and trade just a small bit of traction for improved handling, steering response, and braking on winter dry surfaces. You'd do well with either of those choices in Boston. Nokian also makes very capable winter tires, although distribution is somewhat more limited and pricing may be a factor.

Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3. Great tire but do wear out fast. You might be able to get 2 full seasons (16,000 miles) with them. Blizzacks are always a good choice but you may want to consider X-ice's for your car.

I used Michelin PA4s on my last RWD 911 and had absolutely no problems with the winters here in Boston. They were pretty quiet and worked well on the cold dry roads too.

We have Blizzaks LM32 255/40R19 on our 2014 Audi A6 TDI and 2016 Audi A7 3.0T and they are fantastic tires with no issues. I highly recommend them. The XICE XI3 is on the 2012 Audi A8L but they are better in snow and ice but too mushy in dry handling. The LM32 do wonderful in deeper and slushier snow due to bigger tread patterns.
