2016 A6 3.0 prestige MMI version?

Just purchased a new A6 this week and a regular reader here since I became interested in the car. I've been learning and playing around with the MMI system a good bit and discovered that my MMI version is MHI2_US_AUG11_P0533. After finding the thread about Bluetooth connectivity issues and Bose improvements (and just wanting the latest software on my new car), I attempted to get my version updated from P0533 to K0814.
The service manager has been extremely dodgy and incredibly inconsistent as to why I'm unable to get the update. Rather than go through the entire sequence, which is still ongoing, he's now claiming that the software is incompatible with the new models and they need a newer version? Does anyone know if that's nonsense or if there's something I can do to prove him otherwise?
My assumption is that there's no TSB for MMI updates on the '16 and they're just avoiding the job. And trying damn hard at that.
Thanks for any help.

Does the dealer get paid by Audi to do the MMI upgrade? If not, or if he only gets paid to upgrade units where the owner has a specific complaint addressed by the upgrade, that may explain his reluctance to do it.

AOA's policy re MMI updates is to not cover them under dealer warranty reimbursement unless the update will correct a specific customer issue. There are several threads dealing with this subject with some examples of issues resolved by an update - do a search. The latest available MMI update is version 0814 which is reported to work with any 2012+ C7.

Are you sure you have bought a 2016 model? That version number suggests it is from August 2011. Cars leave the factory with the latest version of the MMI software available at the time so the dealer should not have to do anything. Seems very strange, hopefully someone else with a 2016 model can confirm their firmware version

That is the version for 2016 models. You can't have the 814 "update" because it's for the previous cars (2012-2015) and doesn't apply to the newer hardware.

The MHI2 in MHI2_US_AUG11_P0533 indicates that it is a 2nd generation MMI 3G+ head unit (MY 2016< in the US) which is using different software. The 1st generation (<MY 2015)was HN+R_US_AU_P0xxx for which 0814 is the newest update.

Only Audi could come up with a version reference that looks to include a date when it doesn't!!

So why couldn't his service advisor have given him that same clear answer?
