Hi guys,
I thought this would be the best place to post questions regarding an issue I'm having with my 2017 Audi A6 Quattro.
Ever since I have bought the car, I'm having an issue with the RPM.
Here's a list of steps on what happens:
1. Press on the brake and press on the ignition button
2. Car engine starts
3. PROBLEM: when I put the car either into Drive or Reverse, the RPM revs itself up to 2500 RPM at times (if I don't keep my foot on the brake until the RPM "spike" goes back down, the car will shoot out)
Is anyone else having the same problem? I have already taken the car to 2 different dealerships and at first look they were all saying that "this is weird" and that something's wrong with the car. BUT!@# after they check the car out, they all came back with a "it's normal". I don't see how this is normal and they keep saying that all 2017 A6 do the same thing.
They make it sound like if ALL cars have a defect then it's NORMAL? Please help me!!
I will try to see if I can post a video of what's happening. Thank you

Mine doesn't do that.
Are you located where it is cold? Do you wait ~1 min so the RPM slow down to ~750 before you put it in gear?
Still, car should not jerk forward or back like that.

Thanks for the reply!
No I'm located in SoCal so weather is always hot here.
The problem is not necessarily a "cold start" because even after the car has been running for a good 30 minutes, if I put the gear in Park and back on Reverse, the same problem happens. But yes the car should NOT jerk like that...
One of the dealer mechanics tried to justify saying that QUOTE "the 2017 A6 was made to be faster than previous generations so it revs once you put the gear from P to either D or R to get you going" LOLLLLLLLLLLLL total nonsense
Hope someone could identify the problem and advise what needs to be fixed... I've read some previous year audi's having idle RPM problems but I don't think I have the same issue...

I took the dealer today for a different issue that I was having “pre sense unavailable” but at the same time, I brought the RPM issue up again.
Apparently when I called at the end of the day, they’ve informed me that they needed more time with the car. We’ll see what they come back with tomorrow...
I will post again and let you know of the outcome. Hope they can figure something out..

I have a 2018 2.0t quattro A6 and having the exact same problem. Did you ever find a fix? Mine has been in the shop 3 times. Same thing, everyone raises an eyebrow and then tells me it's normal after it can't be "diagnosed". Today when I pushed them on it, they said there's no one in the Audi records that's had the same issue. Apparently not!
I'm also in SoCal. Would love to know if yours was fixed and if so, what dealership finally fixed it.
Thanks.
