I can't wait! If this is in fact true. Can anyone confirm?
An article I found on one of the local Canadian Audi Dealership website mentions:

Audi has developed a habit of building hot new cars. A habit that has turned into an obsession with the buying public as they continue to line-up in front of dealer showrooms hoping to get their hands on a sparkling-new Ingolstadt-born car.
The newest member of the family to arrive on dealer lots is the 2012 A6. This luxury sedan has known success in the past but the new C7 is by far the best-looking A6 ever. It'll do well.
The gorgeous outer shell will initially be motivated by a 3.0L TFSI engine good for 310hp. In the near future, two other powerplants will be featured under the bonnet of the car.
We've been able to confirm that the 3.0L TDI will in fact be coming to Canada (and the US). This 400+ lb-ft turbocharged diesel-sipping V6 will see duty in a car for the first time in North America. At the moment, only the Q7 carries this gem of an engine.
We've also learned that the 2.0L TFSI mill, currently offered in the A4 and Q5, will eventually find its way in the A6 as well.
Both are very good news for those looking to get great fuel economy numbers with their A6, without sacrificing performance.
No exact dates have yet been made available.

I'm British and this is the A6 I've ordered, personally I would pick this engine over the 3.0TFSI everytime due to it's effortless pulling power. Chip it and it's even quicker than the stock 3.0SC.
If you do get it then you are in for a treat.

I drove the C6 A6 with that engine and while it pulls hard, you can't beat the HP in the supercharged engine. Very different ride. It's much smoother than the diesel. The diesel is great on gas, but still not quite the performance engine.

Wait until the twin turbo diesel hits the road, more torque and hp than the petrol.
It will definitely have more lag than the petrol, but then a massive WHHooooshhh of torque to push you nicely into the seat. But more weight over the nose, so handling will be a bit different.
There are ups and downs as with any package.

Does anyone know if the US market will offer a A6 TDI in 2013?

The USA head of Audi said there would be diesel power in nearly the entire product range this year. I see no evidence of it.

We have the fwd version of the 3.0 TDI, we get just over 7 seconds to 60 (the single turbo quattro does it in about 6 ... bi turbo in about 5.5 I think).
My wife drives fairly carefully, most of the time around 65mph on her 40 mile trip to work each day and she averages about 47 mpg for the whole tank. That's 6 l/100km or 39 mpg (US). The higher spec engines will do a little less I am sure.
We've basically halved her fuel bill per month switching from the Q7 3.0 TDI to this car (no brainer for consumption I know!).
