3.0 TFSI CGXB vs CTUA Engine compatibility?
Hello all,
Unfortunately my engine fans failed, and my car overheated which I'm told caused water to enter the engine somehow, meaning cylinders. So I'm needing a replacement engine.
Dealer tells me I need my same engine code of CGXB for my 2012. Every donor engine I've found seems to all be CTUA. Does enyone have any insight on difference and compatibility?
I'm wondering if its just a small engine revision that won't matter if I replace with a CTUA or if that wouuld cause any incompatibility problems.
Thanks if advance.

Hi
Sorry to hear that your engine died....
Its complicated... If you buy a block from audi it shows the different part numbers for CGXB,CTUA,CGWD and CGWB which are down to build dates and some emission codes. Then etka lists the CGXB, CGWD,CGWB under the same listing for internal parts and the CTUA under a different listing. The blocks are the same as is the crank, and pistons. The PCV is a different part number from my quick research. (PR code 7GB) Needs a lot more research i think to confirm the similarities are the same or not as its an expensive repair.
Really depends on what year the replacement engine is and possibly more so chassis no of the car it came from.
