I am considering getting an A6 3.0 Prestige but also want to check out the new BMW 5 series. Can I have an opinion of A6 owners here as to why I should go with A6 rather than the new G30?

I don't know about the G30 but the C7/7.5 A6 3.0 is better than the F10. I've driven the F10 extensively and concluded that the C7 has spoilt me to bits.
Engine is so much more refined. Interiors feel better. Car is faster. Handles very well. Spacious. Where I'm at, it's also less common.

Yes I know about the F10 and its not good. But really want to test drive the G30 before I consider A6. The problem is, G30 is not coming out until Feb of 2017.

F10<C7?G30.....if you can wait, I would, as each OE manufacturer uses direct competitors to set their design and dynamic objectives and C7 would have been considered by BMW. (The new E Class, however, is getting some press as not representing dynamic progress.) It is just too soon to know, although some early drive reviews are starting to appear. The new 7 and the 2 are encouraging signs for how the next gen models may fill in between them. Depending on how the Class Action evolves, as shown on the other thread recently posted, some of us may be close behind you.

One thing !!! NO Runflats! I love Bmw and have had a lot of them but I just don't like the way they have gone! Go Audi you will not regret it

The G30 is new, the A6 is old. G30 is not out yet but you are asking for comparison opinions?

I think that your ask is too premature to be meaningful. If you really want to consider either then drive them so wait.

Will no longer be a relevant distinction. Order the OE tires you wish, such as non-RFT PSS, and the new G30 platform will have a spare tire well again, which BMW had discontinued on the current production platforms.

I've had 2 new BMW's, a 2002 325i convertible and a 2012 X3.
My 2016 A6 3.0's quality blows it away.

I wanted to know a general opinion of A6 vs the 5 series, not necessarily G30 in particular. The C7 is superior to F10 but the G30 is delaying my choice of A6. Yes I am waiting to test drive the G30 before making a decision.
