As someone that drives about 25K miles per year, I think a diesel powered car would be a great option for me.

Although here in the US, there aren't many options to chose from. I am considering a BMW 335d, but would rather have a larger vehicle as I have kids.

I was reading a new issue of the usual car magazines this morning (can't remember which one), and it mentioned that the US will see a diesel version of the A6 later by year's end.

Anybody heard of this or have any news to share?

It was reported in the Summer 2012 Quattro Quarterly (official magazine of the Audi Club North America) by Wayne Killen (Audi's head of product strategy)that diesel engines will be added to the A8, A6, and the Q5 in 2013.

We have the diesel models for te A6 both 3.0T and 2.0T. A bit more noise so I opted out on it. The fuel savings is great especially here since diesel is about 17 cents per liter less or about 64 cents per gallon less. The only time I wish I would have gotten the diesel is when I am at the pump and seeing just over $150 per fill up.
