We have a 2011 A6 that we purchased in January of this year and loaded the jukebox with about a 1,000 songs. We prefer for the jukebox to play using the "shuffle" or "mix" function and have it stay there until we change it. Most times when we turn off the car it goes back to playing the songs in order and we have to put it back onto "shuffle" however sometimes it stays on "shuffle" even though the car motor was turned off. Does anybody have any ideas on how to keep the system on "shuffle" without having to turn it on most times when we start up the car.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I have the same frustration with the shuffle staying on. Here is the only pattern that I have been able to come up with.
If you are out of the car for less than 20 mins (even if the engine is off and the car is locked) then the MMI typically "remembers" where it was (i.e. in shuffle mode, in radio 'Preset' mode, etc).
But if you are out of the car for more than 20 mins, then the MMI seems to reset itself to the most basic of states (i.e. playing the playlist straight through from the current song, being in 'station' mode instead of 'Preset' mode, etc).
I have not found a way to have the car start (after being off for more than 20mins) in Map mode on the MMI (instead it starts in destination entry mode even if the car was turned off with the map on the display) or in shuffle mode, or in Preset mode.
If anyone knows a way to have the MMI remember where it was and start there again, please let us know.
sorry I couldn't be of more help.
