I have a 2012 A6 Prestige with the ambient lighting plus package. When I open the door, the lights on the console and door panels get brighter. When you shut the door they dim even though MMI is set to full brightness. Is there a way to make them stay bright all the time and not dim once the door is closed? I don't know why Audi wouldn't just make the brightest setting on MMI as bright as it could go. Instead offering a dimmed version as its brightest setting. If anyone knows anything about this I'd love to hear it! Thanks!!
When you open your door, all the interior lights come on including the one right over your console. When you shut the door it goes off. I think that is the "dimming" you are referring to. That is not an "Audi" thing, its all cars. Otherwise you will have reflections in your windows when you drive at night. Turn the interior lights on all the time if that's what you want. Also, make sure the rotary instrument light adjustment next to the headlight switch is turned all the way clockwise to give you the brightest instrument setting
The right one? In the US it is the left one, which country are you in?
As stated many times, putting your location in your signature or under your avatar allows for a more intelligible post when on Audi WORLD.
I read Alphatero's wording as meaning "directly over" (i.e., "precisely over"), not "to the right of" or "on the right side of" as you seem to be saying was the intention.
To get full brightness all the time you have to connect the door-lightstripe to the door-handle illumination and the console-lightstripes to the 12V power-outlet illumination.

He meant right above, not to the right of the console.
I think it's time to let the sig info laments go. Agreed it would be nice if everyone posted their model (assuming they already own an Audi) and country of origin but with almost 300K AW members, you're not going to have much effect changing behavior with the numerous reminders. It is what it is.
