Prestige owners (?): I noticed that the two small interior red accent LEDs in the upper console stay lit full time even during the day with light switch in Auto or off - doesn't make any difference. (They do go off automatically with the other lights after exiting the car). Either it's normal and I never noticed it before or suddenly something is amiss. (I've tried all the upper light switches to no avail). All the other LED ambient lights seem to go off during the day (unless a door is opened). Can anyone confirm if their two upper red LEDs remain lit during daylight?

A number of vehicles I have seen in the last few years have little red lights that stay on all the time. A friend's 2012 Forester was the first I noted and I asked her to check it out with the dealer since I could not find anything in her owner's manual. When she checked with the dealer they said it was a convenience feature to give some ambient light so you can see the radio controls and such if you're in the car with the ignition on but the engine not running and are listening to the radio or CD player or whatever (like when waiting for someone outside a shop and you don't want the engine running). Also to help you find your cell phone and stuff like that before exiting the car. Maybe that is it. I will check my 2013 A6 P+ to see if it has these lights but I do not recall seeing them.

I have a 2013 A6 2.0 Premium Plus and I do have the two red led's in the overhead. They stay on in in bright sunlight, although it is hard to see them unless you stick your face right up to them. They do give some help in finding the start buttton, etc. in the darkness of my closed garage. They go off when you lock the car after leaving.

Thanks, guys! After 12K miles and one year, mostly driven during the day, I never once noticed them being lit.
