I have an Escort 9500i and hardwire kit as well. In my previous car I tapped into the cigarette lighter in the console to get the proper power and on/off from the ACC. Has anyone tried connecting that way? Where are you placing your mute buttons? Anyone have tech docs for taking dash or pillars apart safely?

If you're going down a pillar, why would you go all the way to the center dash, then tear it apart when you have a fuse box at the end of the pillar?

I just use the mute button on top of the RD as its right in front of me.

I hate having to tap into the fuse box at risk of Audi trying to void my electrical warranty.

This is great. Just wondering if anyone used this method on their new A6 or A7 yet?

I haven't installed a radar detector in a Audi yet but I have used a kit from these guys. I saw their auction on eBay, went to check out their site and won their monthly give away.

Their kit was easy to install and included everything you need.

Thanks for the link. I got the original hardwire kit from V1 already.

I'm just curious, did anyone use this method outlined in the thread below on their C7 A6 yet? Are the wirings above the overhead console identical to the ones in the tutorial?

Thanks for the help.

I am going to try it this weekend on my (new to me) A6. I had hard wired directly to my over head light area on my previous 550i. I would rather use the fuse panel hard wire option this time around. Seems simple enough as long as routing the wire down the pillar and into the fuse box is not to much trouble.

Looks like the key to success is having the right tools. (As usual) There is a name I have seen used for the little device to push the wiring in other than a screwdriver. I think it can be found at a craft store. Good luck!

Default V1 hardwire

I bought the SAVVY unit, remote display, and V1, and had it all wired/mounted in my S7 for $75 at a local shop in Chicago. That price also included them disassembling the remote display and fabricating a new back to it so it would fit better on the dash. I wired the SAVVY and power runs myself, but then let them tuck-in all the wires with their trim tools. My original post (and a few photos) is here:

I have a passport so I'm not help but if it's available, and legal in your state, get laser jammers. I have them in mine, installed at the very bottom of the grill and they work great!
