Is bang and olufsen worth it

I was just cruising the Audi UK site and noticed the B&O system option said that this would reduce the trunk space.
Can anyone confirm that ordering the B&O would reduce the trunk dimensions in a U.S. model, particularly the width of the space?
(I already know it would reduce my wallet contents).

I have been going back and forth on whether to order the A6 or go for the BMW 328 or 528 - anyway, that's another issue; however, their upgrade stereo is a Harman Kardon and the upgrade cost is around $900. I hear it's superb with its 16 speaker system. If I get the BMW I'll get the upgrade - if I get the A6 I won't!

Some have knocked the Bose system, but I watched/listened to Casino Royale the other night in the car and heard sound effects and parts of the musical score that I'd never heard before.

There have been a number of threads on the B&O sound system and it seems like most people feel it's not worth the extra cash. A big part of the reason for me is that most of what you're going to hear in your car is compromised anyhow not only by the usual car-related noises, but also by the compromised quality of FM, Sirius, and MP3s, all of which are lacking in fidelity in some way or are over-engineered for some kind of effect (e.g. most rap or "smooth jazz" music is compressed so as to emphasize bass).

I haven't read through the whole thread and don't know if this mentioned, but I cross-shopped the A6 with the S4, and on the S4 the B&O is an $850 upgrade.
Now I don't expect that a $6000 upgrade be comparable to an $850 upgrade, but psychologically I could not get past that you're paying 8x for the A6 upgrade and probably not getting 2x the improvement over the S4 version.

<-- bit of an audiophile
Having Several Acuras, the ELS system (more specifically in the 2009+ TL Tech Package) was incredible. The same system in the RL/MDX didnt even compare.
I have a bose system in my CL-S, which "blows" so to speak.... When i played around with the B&O and Bose in the A6, i agree with others. Bose has more boom. i listen to everything, mostly house/electronic, but plenty of rock, hip hop, rap, 70s - 90s music, alternative ,etc...
The B&O was louder and cleared, but no low end kick, which i love.
the Acura ELS, which was rated by Edmunds a few years ago, as the #1 OEM stereo system in cars <$100k, beats the Audi Bose & B&O...
no way, i was choosing to spend $6k on a freaking stereo. I'd rather have 6 less monthly payments.
i do regret not getting the Innovation, but thats another story....

I went for the Bose. It sounds ok but the bass is really weak. And there is no subwoofer setting in the MMI. Any ideas on how to get some more bass? Where is the subwoofer located? I want to make sure it is even connected.
