Do NOT buy these!!!!

I went to the dealer today, and he happened to have a set that someone else ordered for another car, found out they didn't fit that car. I came in and said I wanted to see them compared to the ones currently on our A6 3.0s. I also confirmed that the part number on the black ones matches the part number on the Audi Collection (and all other) sites. The black ones listed below are in fact too small in diameter. They might fit an A4 or maybe even an A6 2.0T, but definitely NOT a 3.0 2012 A6. Crap.

+1 I worry about "painting" a grill as there are so many rock chips possible and if the paint chips, then it's useless. Wonder if they baked it on somehow.

This is disconcerting and exactly what I have been encountering in my search for OEM Audi exhaust tips for my B8 A4 Avant. (My C6 A6 Avant, thankfully, already has polished tips.)

I have seen the same thing advertised as the Audi Collection blurb that they will fit a certain model on other Audi parts sites. They tend to lump models together when listing fitments when many of the models have different sized exhaust tips. Even the B8 A4 line has the sedan with 65mm tips and the Avant has 80mm.

To further my frustration, I emailed my VIN to an Audi parts seller and they told me they don't make polished tips for my car yet I have seen plenty of B8 A4 Avants with S-Line sporting polished tips! Heck, Audi's website lists polished tips (or "exhaust finishers") as part of the Appearance Package.

This should be an easy part/mod. It's ridiculous. I guess moral of the story is to triple check to make sure of sizing.
