As I wrote earlier, I'm getting this smell as well right after hard acceleration. It's on my list for Monday when I bring it in for the 5K service. I have this premonition I'm going to get the "operates normally to manf. specification". If so I'm going to ask why - never had it on my other three Audis.

You are responding to post that is 8 years old....For what its worth, my car does this from time to time....usually in the fall and spring only...very weird...I dont think I smelled it at all this summer, but did notice it about a week ago. Usually noticeable when I get right off the highway and stop at a light.

I should have come back and posted a follow up. Turns out the smell I was getting was due to the factory coating underneath the new car. When they spray the underneath coating some gets on the exhaust pipes. After awhile, the material burns off the hot exhaust system and the smell goes away. At least that was the result in my case.
