For some reason, this reminds me of the banana-shaped Cadillac Seville...I think I'll pass...

Got me looking at some reviews for the 2013 S60 R Design and it gets amazingly positive reviews on YouTube. 2014 will have paddle shifters (the major complaint in most reviews was the lack thereof in 2013), 0-60 in low 5's, and some nice safety features (especially pedestrian and cyclist avoidance in PV with all the cyclists). Should manage the switchbacks and PV Drive East nicely (I grew up in the Miraleste/RPV area).

To OP...that Merc looks very nice.
I currently have an 8 year old S60R. It has been a great car. Don't know how the new ones compare but mine has had superb handling, excellent power / acceleration, a stock stereo system that blows away what is in the A6, and the best seats in a car I have ever sat in.

I still plan to hang onto it once my A6 arrives (actually I may be hanging into it even longer as my dealer is playing games with some incentive they promised I would receive when I ordered and I am close to cancelling and getting a different vehicle or going elsewhere and ordering a 2014 A6).

In any case, I would have no hesitations recommending the Volvo to you

That's also a "starting" price for MB.

The S3 will probably be a better bang for the buck.

It looks to me like MB never met an angle or curve they didn't like. Reminds me of some of the newer cars from the Orient with all the abrupt and multi-directional body line changes. This looks to be more in the S4 or even the upcoming RS3 size class but much busier. Seems strange to consider it alongside an A6 - completely different vehicle and market. And way too small for me.

Mercedes... are very nice cars.. but i dont like the way they drive. Forget the power, style, bells and whistles... and overpriced, under-reliable.... i just hate the loose steering, floating bouncy suspension

buttt... best sending engines... Those 550 V8s and 6.3L AMGs under throttle... are just harmonic bliss
