Default Currently negotiating for an A6

Hi all. Current owner of a 2010 A4 and now that I have some kids, looking to go a bit bigger. I've been going back and forth with my local Audi dealer over email to try and negotiate a price. While he has yet to come back with a firm offer, he's definitely digging to see where he can get me. I'm trying to keep all variables out of play with him -- not telling him how I'm buying (cash or finance) and whether or not I'm trading in. He did ask if I was a current Audi owner so I could get the loyalty discount (I told him yes, my wife has a current Audi). I think the discount is $3000 for an A6.

I'm curious -- who actually swallows that discount? The dealer or Audi? The reason I ask is if he comes back with, say, $4000 over invoice, is the dealer (and him in commission) getting the $4000? Or are they only getting $1000?

I don't have any intention of trying to screw dealer/salesman -- my intention is to not get screwed myself.

Thanks!

I negotiated on the price of my trade-in and my rock bottom lease payment I was willing to accept. I simply told them I can wait til I pay off more of my trade-in so I don't have to put any cash down.

Well, the closer it got to the end of their fiscal quarter the closer they got to my lease payment and I ultimately got what I wanted.

The loyalty rewards program for an A6 is $1500.

Thanks for the info and the check on the discount. I'm basically in a similar boat -- I'm not in a huge rush and will buy if he can meet my price (I'm buying though, not leasing). I'm still curious though where that discount get pulled from: dealer or corporate.

It should be corporate Audi, not the dealer, the dealer will get the $1500.

Excellent -- that's what I thought. Just wanted to make sure.
