Uh, yes. 20" tires would be a bit loose on 19" wheels. You could try it but off the line performance and handling would definitely be reduced - as in none.

Yep - cost is not an issue if you live in areas with crappy roads like I do and prefer the 19" for ride and protection. One blow-out of a 20" tire kills any cost savings one main gain

I guess I am fortunate in Atlanta, but I have taken my car to NYC and I guess I can understand, I also keep my tires over n flayed by at least 4-6 PSI to help as well, I would thin the right pothole would be an issue regardless of 19 or 20 inch wheels. I do find it odd that the 19 inch size Audi uses is so much more than the 20 inch size. I thought is was an error, but checked several tire sellers and all had same pattern.

Can they replace it with 19" wheels instead and if they can...if this going to cost me extra or can I get another ~$800 off for going with the 19" instead? Please advice. Thanks.
I am not sure where you are located, but my 14 A6 is due in 2 weeks and I am pulling the 19 wheels and tires to get 20s, I actually put an add up in classified to sell the wheels and tires as soon as I get the car.

yep - you would be surprised at the difference, On my Volvo, with 18" wheels and low profile tires that provided similar sidewall height to the 20" Audi's I had 4 blowouts from potholes.
When I switched to 17" wheels with tires offering sidewall height like the 19" Audis do, no more blowouts

BTW - to the OP, I also have a set of 19" OEM Tires and Wheels - brand new for sale. the Tires were only on the car from Germany to the US. the wheels were used about 1000 miles and are in flawless condition. If interested, PM me,
