First 500 Miles

I traded my '13 A4 for a new A6. First 500 miles has been outstanding. Compared to the A4, the A6 is much more comfortable, equally responsive and a pleasure to drive. The wife loves the interior but thinks the exterior looks exactly the same, HA HA. The 2.0T engine coupled with the 8 speed tranny is more than adequate. Reaches 85 mph with ease, will be a great road car with great mileage and decent performance. Very pleased with our decision.

rmorin1249, I echo your comments.
I too have just passed 500 miles in my 2013 A6 and found it more comfortable than my 2012 A4. In fact, it has exceeded all of my expectations in every way except one.
My only disappointment so far is that the A6 brakes have not bedded as quickly as my former cars. Even now at 500 miles with focused breaking-in driving, they seem to grab during the final few feet of stoppage.
Other than this, I am well pleased with my decision as you are with yours.

Just crossed 900 miles on our '13 2.0T Prem+. Coming from a '06 A6 Avant the new car is such a quantum leap forward I have a difficult time imagining what Audi can do over the next 7 years to create a '20 A6 that is equally better than my '13. Went to dinner last night, mostly 65 mph highway driving and logged 29.2mpg over 30 miles. On the way out to avoid some cars entering the highway I gently pressed the throttle and hit 90 mph effortlessly. After almost 2 months with the car "effortless' is the best word I can find to describe driving her.

habu,
"Effortless" is the same word I have been using to describe driving our new similarly configured A6 as well. I picked mine up on March 29 and kept the revs below 4000 for the first 500 miles (per the operators manual). With 1100 miles on it now, I am allowing myself to open it up a bit and enjoying the result.
To be honest, the 2.0T has enough power to be enjoyed for my daily use. If it had more power, I am not sure I could restrain myself from getting into trouble.

Boulder,
My '06 3.2 six speed would downshift from 3 to 2 and 2 to 1 without much hesitation. The new 8 speed is fine until I get to the 3 to 2 and 2 to 1 shift when it is very unsmooth and jerky. Do you find your tranny does the same thing? I live in the middle of a hill and use the gears instead of the brakes all the time. I find that the 2.0 does not have the braking capability that the 3.2 had and I usually hit my driveway at about 15mph.

The tranny thing: I have noticed that I coast into my driveway and almost stop before going into the garage then touch the gas and to move the car forward and it pauses a half sec then lurches or jumps forward. I don't know if it is the same thing, I thought it might be turbo lag.
The brakes: Compared to my '98 A6, the '13 A6 brakes way better.

Thanks for informing us about the TSB. I will have to pay more attention to this issue to see if I want the "lethargic fix".

I will be taking my first real road trip this weekend. Looking forward to seeing what kind of mileage I will get on the highway cruising around 70 mph. Trip is almost level with only one stop, getting on the PA Turnpike, in about 160 miles. Also hope to take and post a few pics. Happy Motoring.

So I've joined the 2013 a6 owners crowd. Went to JUST test drive a s5 and a6. Loved both but looking long term the a6 was a better fit. Bought off the lot so a few options I wouldn't have chosen but man what a great ride!
2013 a6 brilliant black with nougat
- prestige
- 20" with sport package
- driver assist
- led headlights
- cold weather
About $62.5 out the door so just a bit under msrp. Got the loyalty since my wife drives a 2008 a4.
This forum has been an enormous info resource and was a huge help.
And yes...pics soon!
