Well the good news is my car has arrived at the dealer. The bad news is that even though I ordered it with the front grille filler panel with chrome strips, code 6w9, there are no chrome strips.
On the order guide it says:
<a href="http://tinypic.com?ref=2pq9lra" target="_blank"><img src="http://i53.tinypic.com/2pq9lra.png" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></a>
On my car the license place holder was replaced with black piano plastic strips and that's about it.
Has anyone else ran into this? My dealer is inquiring with the area rep, but their first inclination was to blame the order guide as being wrong.

I don't think any a6 gets the chrome strips. That must have just been a carry-over mistake from the same front-license-delete option from the a7/a8.
I'm sure there will be aftermarket options to get the chrome in the future, though.

I think you might be right. The dealer has not gotten back to me yet but I get the feeling it may not be an option for the US. Chalk another screw up to AoA and their processes.

I'm ordering my A6 tomorrow and I was thinking about getting the chrome grill as well. When I was checking the car up close I recall seeing the grooves in the grill where the chrome strips would be inserted. If that's the case it shouldn't be too hard to retrofit them.
Can someone confirm?
