Here's a video fir the Q5, but I'd assume it's the same for other models.
I went to the gas station today and could not get the gas door to open. I locked and unlocked so many times using my keyfob. I even tried pulling on the red cord in the trunk. Nothing worked. The car keep auto locking, and when I pressed on the unlock on the keyfob after like 20 tried, it popped open.

Does anyone know the part number for the actuator and the black housing for 2016 Q3? I know the black housing can be reused, but I might just order it just in case it's needs to be replaced.
Does anyone know if VW service Audi cars and do they share the same parts? If so, I wonder if it'll be any cheaper to get it replaced at VW. I didn't go to the Audi dealer, but I don't plan on going since they wanted close to $200 to diagnose the problem, and someone on this forum said the dealer asked for over $300 to replace it.

And your fuel filler housing

Better replace the actuator sooner than later. It is failing based on your description.

I’m having the same issue. Did you figure yours out?
Is there a secondary, emergency release for the fuel door? My 2005 A6 had a small, pull cable in the release to pop the fuel door open when the main cable would not release it.
If not, when the fuel door is stuck and will not open after many presses, how do you open it?
Not a hypothetical question. I pulled up to the gas station today and after 5 minutes gave up. The fuel door would not open. Luckily, today was a case of topping off before the weekend and I still have about 1/2 tank left. But with cold weather in the forecast, I don't like to get below 1/4 tank so need to open the door very soon.
