Headlights were on for sure, it was 9:30 PM at night, and here on the West Coast, it would have been below 77 deg. for sure as well.
I'll try to read the manual and test it. Is there a PDF copy online somewhere?

Don't have the car handy now / the owner's manual, but it was a setting in the menus, I think under the Driver's Assistance category, that set the Night Vision Assistant to ON.

No PDF for the manual, but if you PM me your e-mail, I can send you the Audi Academy training material on the A8 Driver Assist Systems, which includes a detailed section on the Night Vision Assist. Can't imagine that it would differ significantly from the A6's setup.

So you do need to turn it on EACH time you start the car by pressing this button, and there's no way to default it to come on automatically?
