Having a problem

Hey guys, it's been over a month now and I still have not received my car title from the dealership. I have contacted them asking about it and they keep telling me that it'll take a week since the title had a miss print?? A week later I still haven't got it and contacted them again and now they are telling me that they will know on Monday. I can't register my car or drive my car. Anyone heard of this issue on car title? Should I call Attorney Generals office and file a complaint? Call the bank telling them that I'm not gonna pay the car payments since the car isn't mine yet?

Since you have a loan on the car, you wouldn't get the title anyway - the bank holds the title until the loan is paid off, then you get the title. As for registering the car, why didn't the dealer handle this - normally you would get a temporary registration until the registration paperwork is processed through the DMV.

The bank will give me a certificate after the loan has been paid off in full on the car. They don't get the car title.

Not unheard of with titles crossing state lines.
Pro-Tip: use a *descriptive* subject line in your posts to get more and more helpful responses... "Having a problem" sounds like you need Viagra or something. "No title after more than a month???" would be much better....

Never heard of needing the title before registering the car. I am in
NY and bought my car 2 months ago and still have no title. I was able to look up the status of the title online and it has not yet been processed. The car was bought and owned in Conn. so this may account for the delay I assume in most states the title is yours and the bank that holds the loan has a lien against that title (similar to mortgage on home). Once the loan is paid the lien is released.

I live in Missouri, in my state you get the title of the car when signing papers at the dealership, either they mail it to you or title is there when signing papers. When they mail the title to me I then take it to the License Bureau and they send it off to get it changed into my name then the Department of Revenue sends me the car title in my name. Never had this issue before till now. If I paid off my car in full thats when the lien holder send me a certificate that my car is paid in full.
Also I called the bank today and they told me that the dealership had sent them a copy of the title or something, and said that the previous owner lost the title to the car so the dealership had to file a lost title claim and they said I should have it in a week or two. But I still cannot register my car without the car title. It has been over 30 days.
