Default How are your tires wearing?

I'm still on the original Continental ContiProContact 18" and at 32,000 miles they still have 8/32" of tread left!

The specs say they start at 11/32" new, so if I extrapolate that down to 4/32", they will last 75k miles.

I have a 2.0T FWD so I do rotate them at each service: 5k, 15k, 25k,... and they are wearing evenly. I inflate them to 33 psi F, 35 psi R. Mostly highway driving, but I have a very relaxed driving style in the city anyway. The tires are still quiet and ride smoothly.

So, how are your tires wearing?

My tires wear faster as the tread depth decreases.

Can't beat math and physics.

The tires don't wear in a linear fashion. As the tread decreases, there is less mass to dissipate heat and it allows more flex. More heat makes the rubber softer and they wear faster.

Fwiw my c6 has tons of tread on its second set at 96k. I was impressed to see a 2013 DOT code. Car is a 2010.

I was agreeing with you. The tread decreasing was the math and the dissipation of heat was the physics. I guess I should have explained.

Switched from OE Conti's to Michelin's at 9700 miles in an attempt to lessen road/tire noise. Big mistake. No difference in ride or noise. Noise comes from the road through the chassis of the car. My only disappointment with the car.
