On a long trip up the coast or on the frwy. it was top notch but day to day driving in the neighborhood left me wanting for the smaller, easier to manage car. I also felt it was a bit too "grown up" for me and I was trying to make it work. You won't believe it but I just put it up for sale (see classifieds here ) with 7600 mi./10 month old. I just leased a new Volt that does not have the same quality or space but is more fun to drive around the city- mini tesla type instant 275lbs of torque in sport mode and fun to steer- very solid, never thought GM could do this. The fact that I don't buy gas and can drive alone in the carpool lane is just an added bonus. If anyone has driven total electric power with some torque- this is the future and you will never want an ICE car again. They just need to build a smaller Telsa in the $50,000 range.
I know what you mean. My wife just got a volt for her commute. It is a cool ride. Different from the a6 though. If Audi had electric that would be our vehicle.
Actually now I need to get rid of the a6. We have too many cars to fit in the garage, but need a sport ute for the family outings. Our ml Is over mileage and ending its lease soon.
So I'm trading my A6 and 2012 ml 350 in for a ml550.
Since I'm forced to drive a sport ute to consolidate cars I needed something sporty in the SUV arena.
Need to go Benz to get out of that lease early. Then next car would be a cayenne gts.
I don't want to have an SUV as my primary vehicle and will miss the a6. We just don't have the space.
If anyone wants a fully loaded 2012 a6 with 36k miles for about 45$ write me.
After this volt lease though we will be having an electric vehicle for the rest of our lives. It's that practical. Likely Cadillac elr next. Good looking car.

Doesn't the S4 have the same engine as the A6?

Basically, yes, but it's tuned differently for increased hp. (333 vs 310) besides being a lighter car. Audi spec 0-60 = 4.9 sec w/S4 vs 5.3 sec w/A6 3.0.

I was in that boat months ago before deciding on the A6. Go for a Porsche Cayenne S/GTS or a BMW X5M. You'll feel like you're missing a lot less...except $ for gas.
