Instrument cluster momentarily dies

Back on 8/24, I was driving (2016 S6) steadily around 35 MPG when my entire gauge cluster died. The LCD went dark and all the lights and gauges were also off. A few seconds later, the cluster appeared to reboot itself. First, the needles and warning lights came on, and then the warning lights cleared and the LCD turned back on. During this entire time, the audio system and the car continued to run normally. I'm wondering if I have a bad instrument cluster or if it was just a random SW crash. I was going to take it to the dealer but it hasn't happened again since then. And last time I reported an intermittent NAV issue to the dealer they said they couldn't do anything unless it was persistent.
Has anyone experienced this before? I've only seen other reports were this was happening more frequently and the cluster had to be replaced. I still have some factory warranty remaining but I'm worried it could die after it expires since it's showing symptoms now.
