Well after years of being team Lexus i got to say I'm mad excited about getting this A6. It was my first driving any forced induction car but let me tell you when I first put my foot on the gas of this thing I could tell immediately this thing is going to a beast to drive. I had to behave myself cause I had b/c I had the sales rep with me in the car.
It's so smooth and the acceleration is immediate. One thing I will miss about my GS430 is that v8 rumble...it was music to my ears. But sadly my lex was dated...2001 w/ 219,736 miles. I wanted to hold on to it but living in Brooklyn im not trying to be responsible for moving two cars for alternate side street parking.
But anyway the Audi has 41k, any maintenance check ups I need to be concerned about at its current mileage before I sign these papers.

Drop in or call your local Audi service department. Give them the VIN and they can tell you the history. You can also check the value using Edmunds.com.

+1. Unclear if you are buying from a dealer or otherwise. Would be great if this car is an Audi CPO vehicle -- lots of peace of mind with what could be as much as 3 more years of warranty up to 100,000 miles. Indeed the A6 3.0T is a lovely car (if you search around on Audiworld you will find that the /13s had a few issues, some of which are covered by recalls if I recall correctly).
Just one thing, be realistic in your expectations as regards cost of maintenance/repair and how long you can expect to keep a European car before its care and feeding becomes cost prohibitive. I came over from Acura (/06 TL 140,000 largely trouble-free miles -- total $1,200 approx. in repairs over those 140,000 miles -- wonderful car). Although I love my A6 I'm under no illusions and am not expecting Lexus/Acura reliability/running costs. I've decided that the third party extended warranty through Audi not best move so I'm setting aside $1,500 per year to cover any repairs that come up after warranty has expired. My plan is to keep the car a year or two beyond warranty assuming no issues of any major consequence during first four years/50,000 miles. If I get through that year or two unscathed, I have $6,000 to put towards the next vehicle. If a few things come up, I've got the dough set aside so should not be too painful.

+2. Make sure they've done all services according to how Audi specifies it.
And don't worry. You will not miss the v8 rumble after living with the A6 3.0 TFSI. That engine is a gem. The silkiest engine I've experienced. The A6 is the benchmark car for me.
