Default Jukebox song limit 4000 or 3000 on newer MMI?

I'm cross posting this from the electronics section because I think it applies to the MMI in newer Audis and this seems to be the most active newer generation Audi forum.

I've read on this forum that MMI Jukebox has a 4,000 song limit. However according to this PDF, it states "The Jukebox has a capacity of 20 GB. Both audio and video files can be imported. Up to 3000 files can be stored." So which is correct? Has anyone with newer Audi load more than 3000 songs on to their Jukebox?

It all depends on how long the songs are. Shorter songs = more songs possible .
Regardless why not just use an iPod so much easier to use and no work in loading up 3000+ songs.

No album art with iPods.

You can order from the Audi parts desk PN 4F0 051 510 R. It will have a red ring instead of blue ring that came standard with the 2012. I do not think it will work on earlier cars.

Was curious as I shall be getting a 2012 in March sometime. Will see if it gets the blue or the red cable. Not sure.

Wasn't one of those cables only available for EU vehicles? Seems we had another thread and somebody bought something that wouldn't fit US cars.

@xradman,

I checked the official German Audi MMI Plus manual I got on another forum and came up with the following information:
DVD > max 5000 files per DVD and max 1000 per playlist
Jukebox > you can copy max 3000 files to the harddisk
USB-devices and SD-cards > max 5000 files and max 1000 per playlist

Hope this helps you.

Many greetings from The Netherlands

Thank you very much. I guess I'm going to have to divide up my playlist between the Jukebox and the 2 SD cards.
